Why Hiring a Running Coach Can Transform Your Training (and How We Can Help)

Are you brand new to running and are unsure how to start? Or maybe you're an experienced runner and you're tired of hitting plateaus, dealing with injury, or finding it difficult to remain consistent? There is a simple solution that can help you solve these problems - Hiring a personal running coach!

What Does a Coach Do?

Coaches contribute to your success in a plethora of ways, not just telling you what to do. A good coach will personalize your training plan based on your goals, your current strengths and weaknesses, and your injury history. They will provide accountability and motivation and help you make the necessary adjustments based on whatever life throws at you so that you can keep pushing forward. They will also be able to help you with race strategy and planning, understanding pacing and workouts, and how to appropriately recover!

Benefits of Working With a Running Coach

A good running coach will pay dividends in your progress. By paying for a coach to help you, it can save you time in the long run (get it? running jokes...). Let me explain - if you don't understand how to train or progress yourself appropriately you'll find yourself doing one or more of these three things which will cause longer lapses of time without progress:

  1. Not understanding progression and plateauing in your progress

  2. Training too hard and having to take much more time to recover week after week

  3. Getting injured and having to take a lengthy amount of time to recover and then build yourself back up

By hiring a coach they will help you train smart, not just hard. This will allow for the consistent progress over time that you're looking for and prevent those annoying plateaus. Coaches will also help you identify the small cracks in your workout and recovery strategy to decrease your risk for injury. Lastly, the accountability and motivation that a coach provides can significantly improve your adherence to your training and goals so that you don't have those inconsistencies week in and week out that prevent that consistent progress you're looking for.
